Originating from the Far East these fascinating Fossils have been forming over millions of years. Many varieties of trees that were possibly buried as a result of volcanic actions and landslides have been turned into fossils by a process whereby the organic material is replaced with minerals to form a stony replica.

These fossils are only acquired as and when they surface. This means they have reached that point in the rock cycle where they are now subject to the ravages of natural erosion. Currently the fossils are being retrieved from three different sources. They can be found exposed at the side of riverbeds, farmers preparing the land are unearthing them and they become exposed due to natural and often sudden earth movements. They come from a very widespread area and are not taken from any protected areas.

The fossils are cleaned up and crafted as necessary to highlight their natural beauty. Indah Products then select and buy the individual pieces before packaging, palletising and shipping to the UK.

It should be remembered that there is no cost to the environment with respect to quarrying because these fossils are not a quarried material. They are not manufactured from concretes or plastics, which have an obvious environmental effect. In fact by purchasing a Tree fossil and looking after it you are protecting it from inevitable environmental erosion.

At first glance you may think that there must be some environmental impact but in reality there is very little or no environmental impact. The fact is that people who may otherwise be engaged in activities that do raise environmental issues earn an income from the product.
